The hazard of the present health care sector is that it is subjected to alot of dangers. The healthcare workers include the doctors, the nurses, and theward boys who constantly handle diseased patients. In the process theythemselves become vulnerable to diseases. The healthcare units like hospitals,nursing homes, and the different health camps should ensure the safety of thehealthcare workers who are constantly being exposed to diseases.
THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF HEALTHCARE CAREERS THAT ONE CAN PURSUE:
Healthcare opens up several career avenues for people. Doctors, nurses, andseveral other people who are associated with hospitals and nursing homes arefall under the category of healthcare workers. For becoming a healthcareworker, proper training is available from the hospitals. Doctors and nurses aretrained separately at many institutes situated throughout the world. Those whoare engaged in doing menial healthcare work like the ward boys are trained atthe hospitals.
HEALTHCARE AS A CAREER:
If you seek healthcare as a career, it can be a lucrative career. Thissector will offer you a safe, “recession proof” job. The demand for doctors andnurses will never fall. The healthcare sector offers some other healthcaremanagement jobs and healthcare administrative jobs which are concerned with therunning of the hospitals and the nursing homes. They officers do not have todirectly deal with the patients. Nevertheless, they are healthcare workersthemselves.
THE JOB SKILLS OF A HEALTHCARE WORKER:
• Should learn from the training that is provided. Healthcare jobdescription is provided during the times of training.
• Should have a passion for serving people.
• Sometimes health care workers need to put up with odd conditions,especially during some kind of emergency of in times of crises.
• They should be able to work devotedly even if they are receiving lowsalary. The NGO s does not have much money to pay to the health workers. Butthere are patients who need medical care. So the health workers should not beapprehensive about working for small wages.
• Healthcare job is a very risky job. Any mistake may prove to be fatal forthe patient. Therefore, mistakes cannot afford to take place. A health careworker should always be cautious about his moves.
• Should take safety measures while working. He should ensure his own safetyand also the safety of the environment around. He is in charge of the patientand should make sure that the disease of the patient does not spread to theenvironment around.
HEALTH WORKERS AND THEIR SAFETY: A JOB SKILL
Safety of health workers is of prime importance. A health worker is incharge of his own health and also is in charge of the health of the patient. Heshould be extra careful while handling sharp objects like needles and knives.Mishandling of these objects can be detrimental. Places in which this measurehas been taken have reported improvements in the health status of thepeople.
